Bhubaneswar, July 10 -- In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Odisha Excise Department seized around seven quintals of ganja from a truck in Bhubaneswar on Thursday and arrested three persons allegedly involved in the interstate smuggling racket.

The seizure was made during a raid in the Sahid Nagar police station area after the Excise Department intercepted a suspicious truck that had reportedly arrived from Kandhamal district, a region known for illegal cannabis cultivation.

During the search, officials recovered a 7 quintal ganja concealed inside the vehicle. The truck, along with the contraband, was seized, while three accused were taken into custody.
