Bhubaneswar, May 10 -- The Crime Branch on Sunday formally began its investigation into the murder case of GRP constable Soumyaranjan in Balianta on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, with multiple teams taking over the probe amid allegations related to attempted rape and alleged police negligence.

Crime Branch DIG B Gangadhar informed that the agency has registered cases in connection with the incident and initiated the investigation after directions were issued for a Crime Branch inquiry. Crime Branch DSP Ratnaprabha Satpathy is leading the investigation, while Crime Branch SP Aniruddha Routaray is supervising the probe.
