Odisha CM Majhi takes stock of flood situation in Jajpur; 242 villages remain cut off
Bhubaneswar, Aug. 17 -- With floodwaters continuing to wreak havoc across Jajpur, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday visited the Dasarathpur area on Monday to take stock of the situation on the ground. The Baitarani River is still flowing above the danger mark at Dasarathpur, while the Brahmani River at Jenapur is flowing below the danger level.
The combined impact of the two rivers and their tributaries has severely affected several low-lying areas, including Bari, Jajpur and Dasarathpur. As many as 242 villages across eight blocks remain surrounded by floodwater, leaving residents struggling with disrupted connectivity and daily life.
