Odisha Cabinet clears Rs 210 crore hostel for 4,000 women workers in Khordha
Bhubaneswar, June 9 -- In a major push to strengthen infrastructure for the growing textile and apparel sector, the Odisha Cabinet on Monday approved the development of a Women Workers' Hostel at Kalibeti Industrial Area in Khordha district.
The project, which will be executed through the Industrial Development Corporation of Odisha (IDCO), has been sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs 210.36 crore and is expected to be completed within 24 months.
According to the government, the proposed hostel is aimed at providing safe and secure accommodation to women employed in the textile and apparel industries, a sector where women constitute nearly 65-70 per cent of the workforce globally.
