No PUCC, no insurance? Odisha e-detection system to catch violators, impose hefty fines
Bhubaneswar, Sept. 6 -- Vehicle owners in Odisha will now have to ensure that their Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC) and insurance are valid before driving on public roads, as the e-detection system has come into operation from September 1, 2026.
As per reports, under the system, vehicles being driven without valid PUCC or insurance will be electronically detected and an e-challan will be generated in accordance with the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 and the prescribed electronic enforcement procedure.
The State Transport Authority has advised vehicle owners and users to check the status of their statutory documents and ensure compliance before plying their vehicles on public roads.
