Bhubaneswar, May 3 -- Amid rising concerns over soaring temperatures, the Centre on Saturday urged citizens not to panic over heatwave forecasts, asserting that the situation remains manageable with awareness and basic precautions. Union Minister Jitendra Singh said that while certain regions may experience above-normal temperatures in May, the conditions are neither uniform across the country nor beyond control.
Addressing the media, the Minister clarified that the government's advisory is based on scientific inputs from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), and stressed that misinterpretation of forecasts often leads to unnecessary alarm.
