Bhubaneswar, Aug. 8 -- Stray cattle will soon be removed from National Highways (NHs) across Odisha and shifted to gaushalas to help prevent road accidents.

Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik on Saturday stated that gaushalas will be established at intervals of every 100 kilometres along National Highways as part of the initiative.

The move will be implemented jointly by the Transport Department, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Animal Resources Development Department.

The Transport Department will be responsible for removing and relocating stray cattle from the highways, while the Animal Resources Development Department will oversee the maintenance and management of the gaushalas.
