Bhubaneswar, June 20 -- Union Home Ministry launched an advanced technology-enabled identification system designed to trace individuals with criminal records within 35 seconds across the country.

Developed by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), the digital application, named 'Abhigyan', utilises biometric fingerprint recognition to expose the complete criminal history of an accused person from any corner of the country, reportedly.

The newly introduced software application reportedly contains a comprehensive database of more than 1 crore 30 lakh criminals. The system is structured to streamline ground-level policing, allowing law enforcement officers to conduct real-time verifications during routine checks.
