Bhubaneswar, March 21 -- In a major push toward smarter highway management, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to introduce an AI-driven dashcam monitoring system across nearly 40,000 km of national highways.
The initiative aims to modernize highway operations by using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to track road conditions and improve maintenance efficiency through real-time, data-backed insights.
Under the plan, Route Patrol Vehicles (RPVs) will be equipped with advanced dashboard cameras to carry out weekly inspections of highway stretches. These cameras will capture high-resolution images and video footage, which will then be analysed using AI models.
