Bhubaneswar, Aug. 28 -- The National Green Tribunal's (NGT) East Zone Bench issued show-cause notices to five senior Odisha officials, including the Chief Secretary. The notices were issued over alleged non-compliance with the tribunal's order concerning the removal of fly ash encroachment from forest and revenue land in Dhenkanal district.

According to a report by The New Indian Express, the tribunal warned that failure to comply could invite attachment of the officials' properties or salaries and even arrest and detention in civil prison. The officials have been directed to explain why the order should not be executed against them and why prosecution under Section 26 of the NGT Act should not be initiated.
