Bhubaneswar, Feb. 22 -- A newly married woman was allegedly abducted by her former lover at gunpoint in Odisha's Bolangir district early Sunday morning while she was returning home with her husband after their wedding ceremony.

According to sources, the groom, a resident of Kamakhyanagar, had travelled to Kantamal for the marriage. After the ceremony, the couple was on their way back when the accused allegedly intercepted their vehicle midway on the road.

The youth reportedly threatened the groom with a firearm and forcibly took the bride away before fleeing the scene, leaving the groom stranded. The incident has sparked concern in the area.
