Bhubaneswar, Sept. 9 -- A new cell for the Centre of Competency was inaugurated at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Odisha's Cuttack to strengthen care for patients suffering from sickle cell disease. Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling inaugurated the facility at the Department of Haematology on Tuesday.

Sickle cell disease is a hereditary blood disorder that requires regular treatment, proper monitoring and specialised medical care whenever necessary. The establishment of the centre at SCB is expected to further strengthen the advanced and integrated healthcare system for sickle cell patients across Odisha.
