Bhubaneswar, Sept. 14 -- A major proposal in the defence sector could lead to the establishment of a new testing facility near the Odisha-West Bengal border. A defence testing centre has been proposed at Junput beach in West Bengal's Purba Medinipur district. An information suggested that the West Bengal government granted approval for the proposal.

Junput's coastal location is considered significant for defence testing activities. Its proximity to Chandipur in Odisha's Balasore has also brought the area into focus. The proposed facility could further enhance the region's importance as a defence testing corridor in eastern India.
