Bhubaneswar, Sept. 1 -- Odisha mechanical engineer working at the Upper Trishuli hydropower project in Nepal survived the floods after a phone call from his office asked him to leave the workshop and rush to the tunnel site. His wife and two-year-old daughter, however, were swept away from their home and remain missing.

Gunnam Jay Krishna, 37, is a native of Bargarh in western Odisha.

He reportedly went to work at around 7:30am on Wednesday. After reporting at the workshop, Jay Krishna was asked to inspect the tunnel. He left for the site and reached an area from where he could clearly see the devastation caused by the floods.
