Bhubaneswar, May 12 -- In a major development affecting lakhs of medical aspirants across the country, the National Testing Agency (NTA), with the approval of the Government of India, has cancelled the NEET (UG) 2026 examination conducted on May 3 and announced that the test will be re-conducted on fresh dates to be notified separately.

Issuing an official statement, the NTA said the decision was taken following inputs examined in coordination with central agencies and investigative findings shared by law enforcement authorities. The agency stated that the examination process in its present form could not be allowed to stand in the interest of maintaining transparency, fairness, and credibility in the national examination system.
