Bhubaneswar, April 5 -- In a crackdown on illegal storage of firecrackers, police carried out raids in the Umerkote municipality area in Odisha's Nabarangpur district and seized a large quantity of unauthorised stock on Saturday night. The operation led to the detention of two traders allegedly involved in the illegal storage.

The raids were conducted in DNK and UV-3 Dangariguda areas, where police recovered firecrackers stored in violation of regulations. The total value of the seized items is estimated to be worth lakhs of rupees.

During the operation, police searched the houses of two traders, Bijan Mallik and Pratap Chandra Saha. A significant quantity of firecrackers was found stored at their residences.
