Bhubaneswar, March 29 -- In a major setback to the fans of MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman is likely to be ruled out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 due to a calf strain.

Earlier, it was confirmed that CSK will not have the services of legendary MS Dhoni in the first two weeks of the Indian Premier League 2026. However, as per latest reports in some sections of media, the veteran cricketer is likely to be ruled out of the entire season.

In place of Dhoni, either Sanju Samson or Urvil Patel are expected to take over the wicketkeeping duties for the team. His absence will test CSK's squad depth, particularly in terms of leadership and finishing ability.
