Bhubaneswar, May 27 -- Serious allegations of custodial assault and police excess have surfaced against officials of the Talchua Marine Police Station after a woman and her son accused police personnel of subjecting them to third-degree torture inside the police station premises.

The complainants, identified as Annapurna Mandal and her son Anant Mandal, alleged that they were physically assaulted and verbally abused after being summoned to the police station in connection with a family dispute.

According to reports, Annapurna Mandal and her son were called to the police station following a complaint lodged by Annapurna's husband regarding a domestic dispute.
