Bhubaneswar, Sept. 5 -- At an age when many people choose to live for themselves, 65-year-old social worker Shantanu Mahapatra continues to dedicate her time to the education of young children. It's almost 28 years now, but her dedication to bringing education and awareness to the Dongria Kondh community in the remote Niyamgiri hills of Rayagada district hasn't stopped yet.

Living amid dense forests and far from basic facilities, Mahapatra has been working for the education of Dongria Kondh children while also supporting women's and adult education. She has also been involved in awareness campaigns against child marriage and alcohol consumption.
