Bhubaneswar, Sept. 10 -- All schools in Odisha's Mayurbhanj will remain closed on Thursday following a red warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for extremely heavy rainfall.

The decision was taken as a precautionary measure in view of the weather conditions.

According to reports, the closure applies to all government primary, upper primary, secondary and higher secondary schools.

For private schools, classes have been ordered to be cancelled after 10 am on Thursday. The directive was issued in view of the prevailing weather conditions across the district.

Keonjhar, Balasore and Bhadrak have been placed under an orange warning. Meanwhile, the remaining 26 districts have been placed under a yellow alert.
