Bhubaneswar, June 30 -- In a shocking incident, a married man allegedly attempted to kill a minor schoolgirl by pouring petrol on her after she repeatedly rejected his advances in a case of suspected one-sided love in Odisha's Bhadrak district on Tuesday.

The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Dhusuri police station in the district when the girl was on her way to school in the morning. According to preliminary reports, the accused intercepted the minor and allegedly poured petrol on her in an apparent attempt to set her on fire.
