Man held with 47 kg ganja in Sonepur; accused used plastic mats to hide contraband
Bhubaneswar, April 20 -- A new modus operandi in ganja smuggling came to light in Odisha's Sonepur district on Monday. Police arrested a man who allegedly transported the contraband concealed inside plastic mats while posing as a vendor.
The accused was intercepted by Tarbha police while carrying the consignment on a motorcycle from Boudh district. During checking, 47 kg of ganja was seized, police said.
According to police, the accused attempted to avoid suspicion by disguising himself as a hawker. He had cut open plastic mats and created concealed pockets to hide the ganja, making it difficult to detect at first glance.
The operation was carried out in the Tarbha area based on specific inputs, leading to the arrest and seizure.
