Bhubaneswar, April 6 -- A man was detained by forest officials in Odisha's Kandhamal district for allegedly poisoning a leopard to death after it killed his cow. The incident came to light during an ongoing investigation on Sunday.
The accused was apprehended from the Chakapada area under the Tikabali forest range, where forest department personnel also recovered a leopard skin. He has been identified as Pankaj Kanwar, a resident of Ringibadi village under Chakapada police station limits.
According to information provided by the Phulbani Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF), the incident dates back to May 15 last year. On that night, the leopard reportedly entered the cowshed of the accused and killed one of his cows.
