Malkangiri records heavy to very heavy rain as low-pressure system persists
Bhubaneswar, Sept. 12 -- Under the influence of the second low-pressure system, Malkangiri district received heavy to very heavy rainfall, with several areas recording more than 100 mm of rain, according to the latest information from the Water Resources Department on Saturday.
As per early reports, Malkangiri and Chitrakonda recorded 192 mm of rainfall, while Dabugaon received 135 mm. The area near Balimela Dam recorded 219 mm of rainfall. Rain was also reported in Jajpur and Puri districts.
The rainfall in the upper reaches of the Kolab system led to a rise in water levels at some locations in Malkangiri. Around two feet of water was flowing over the Poteru and Podia bridges. Roads in Balimela were also affected by the rainfall and we...
