Bhubaneswar, Oct. 21 -- A motorcycle rider was seriously injured after a car hit his bike from behind on the new road in Bhubaneswar's Salia Sahi area late on Tuesday night. The injured youth was rushed to Capital Hospital for treatment.

The accident triggered protests by local residents, who blocked the road for a considerable period. They raised concerns over frequent accidents on the stretch.

The collision took place on the new road in Salia Sahi when a car struck the motorcycle from behind. The impact left the bike rider seriously injured, following which he was rushed for treatment.
