Bhubaneswar, June 16 -- A herd of around 10 elephants was spotted near the Manjor Dam road under Madhapur Range in Athmallik area of Angul district during Tuesday morning hours, triggering panic among locals and commuters.

The elephants were seen moving along the roadside, forcing several motorists to stop their vehicles midway or take alternate routes. The presence of the herd close to the road caused disruption in vehicular movement for some time.

The sudden sighting of the elephant herd led to panic among travellers using the stretch. Many commuters avoided passing through the area and waited at a safe distance until the animals moved away from the roadside.
