On the sacred occasion of Mahalaya, the concluding day of Pitru Paksha, thousands of devotees thronged Puri on Sunday to perform Shraddhaand Pinda Daan rituals for their ancestors.

At the northern gate of Srimandir, along the Mahodadhi shore, and at various Tirtha Pushkarinis, devotees offered til tarpan to three generations of their paternal and maternal forefathers, praying for the peace and liberation of their souls.
