Bhubaneswar, July 4 -- A low-pressure system triggered heavy rainfall across Odisha, with incessant showers affecting several parts of the state.

Areas from Bhubaneswar to Bargarh and Malkangiri to Mayurbhanj continued to witness persistent rain. In view of the prevailing weather conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) placed Odisha under a red alert.

According to the IMD, five districts, including Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Sambalpur and Sonepur, have been placed under a red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall on Saturday. Residents in the affected areas are advised to remain cautious as adverse weather conditions persist.
