Bhubaneswar, Oct. 24 -- A low-pressure area has formed over the eastern Bay of Bengal and is moving west-northwest. The system will intensify over the next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted on Friday.

According to the Met office, several regions in the coastal and southern Odisha are expected to witness heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds till October 27 under the influence of the system.

The IMD has ALSO issued a yellow warning for 11 districts, including Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Kalahandi, and Koraput. The residents have been advised to remain cautious as the system may cause localised heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and lightning activity.
