Bhubaneswar, Oct. 24 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday reported that a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a well-marked low-pressure zone. Meteorologists indicated that this system is likely to further intensify into a cyclonic storm named 'Montha' by 27th October.
Taking to his X handle, IMD weather expert Umashankar Das shared, "The low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a well-marked low-pressure system. This is likely to further intensify into a cyclonic storm by Oct 27."
Officials have warned coastal districts to remain alert as cyclonic conditions may develop over the northwest Bay of Bengal in the coming days.
