Bhubaneswar, June 7 -- A lightning strike damaged a portion of the historic Chandi Temple in Cuttack on Sunday, causing a stone to fall from the temple's spire. The incident reportedly occurred during the Kalbaisakhi storm, raising concerns among devotees and temple authorities.

Preliminary observations indicate that the impact of the lightning created cracks in the temple's upper structure. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

The development comes at a time when renovation and Nabakalebara-related restoration work is underway at the temple.
