Bhubaneswar, May 10 -- A controversy erupted at Puri Swargadwar on Saturday after a dispute arose over the last rites of a deceased man identified as Alfred Sahu.
According to reports, following Alfred Sahu's death, his son attempted to perform the cremation at Swargadwar, claiming himself to be a Hindu. However, the deceased's nephew, Malay Sahu, objected to the move and stated that Alfred Sahu had adopted Christianity and should be buried according to Christian religious customs.
Despite the objection, Alfred Sahu's son reportedly remained adamant about conducting the cremation at Swargadwar, leading to a tense situation at the cremation site.
