Bhubaneswar, Jan. 10 -- Kolkata Police on Friday night arrested Hemant Verma, a businessman and owner of Danwar Jewellers in Odisha's Bargarh district, in connection with alleged financial irregularities involving gold jewellery transactions. The arrest was made with the assistance of Bargarh town police following complaints lodged by several Kolkata-based jewellers.
According to police sources, Verma had allegedly purchased gold jewellery worth several lakh of rupees from jewellers in Kolkata but failed to clear the payment dues. It was stated that he regularly sourced gold jewellery from Kolkata and sold it in Bargarh.
