Bhubaneswar, Sept. 22 -- Kalinga Ghat in Kandhamal will remain closed for two days on September 23 and 24 as the administration prepares for heavy rainfall under the influence of the depression over the Bay of Bengal.

The decision was taken as intermittent rain and strong winds continue to affect Bhanjanagar since morning.

The closure is aimed at preventing any risk to commuters as heavy rain is expected in the region over the next two days.

The administration will put up barricades at Durgaprasad and seal the road leading through Kalinga Ghat during the two-day closure.
