Bhubaneswar, June 8 -- A powerful Kalbaisakhi storm swept across the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar on Monday, bringing heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds that disrupted normal life in several areas.

Dark clouds engulfed the skies during the afternoon, creating an evening-like atmosphere well before sunset. As the weather system intensified, heavy rain lashed many parts of the capital city, accompanied by gusty winds and thunder.

The storm marked the third consecutive day of intense pre-monsoon activity in the region. Residents across both cities experienced sudden changes in weather conditions as overcast skies gave way to heavy showers and strong winds.
