Janmashtami 2026: Odisha soaks in religious fervor; darshan restricted at Puri Srimandir
Bhubaneswar, Sept. 4 -- Janmashtami is being celebrated today across Odisha and other parts of the country to mark the birth of Lord Krishna. The festival is observed on the Ashtami Tithi of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrava. Special puja rituals are being held at temples, with the birth of Lord Krishna scheduled to be observed at midnight.
In Puri, special rituals have been arranged for the occasion. Public darshan at the temple will remain closed from 7pm to midnight after the evening Dhupa Bhoga Chheka arrives and until the Shri Krishna Janma ritual is completed.
