Bhubaneswar, Oct. 21 -- Political tension on Tuesday flared up in Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district after the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) alleged that members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were involved in a brutal attack on one of its party workers.
According to reports, BJD social media activist Rashmi Parija was allegedly assaulted late on Monday night and struck on the head with a wooden plank. The incident took place in Jagatsinghpur town, leaving her seriously injured. Rashmi was immediately rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, BJD MP Sulta Deo condemned the incident, calling it "a disturbing act in a civilized society."
