Bhubaneswar, Sept. 21 -- Amid the forecast of rain due to a low-pressure system, the Indravati Reservoir in Nabrangpur has opened one of its gates after nearly seven years.

Of the seven gates at the reservoir, Gate No. 6 has been opened by 0.5 metres to allow water to flow out.

Reportedly, the reservoir has a maximum water-holding level of 642 metres. As of this morning, the water level had reached 640.3 metres.

The decision was taken in view of possible increased rainfall and a rise in the reservoir's inflow in the coming days.
