Bhubaneswar, May 9 -- India on Friday successfully carried out the flight test of an advanced Agni missile equipped with Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island, marking another major milestone in the country's strategic defence capabilities.

The test was conducted on May 8 from the integrated test range off the Odisha coast.

According to the Defence Research and Development Organisation, the missile was launched with multiple payloads designed to strike separate targets spread across a vast geographical area in the Indian Ocean region.
