India, Oct. 2 -- Continuous rainfall in the Gajapati district has triggered a landslide in the Mohana region on Thursday, obstructing the key ghat road connecting Paniganda to Chandrapur in Rayagada district.

Loose soil and fallen trees from the hillside have blocked vehicular movement, disrupting local traffic and raising concerns over travel safety in the hilly terrains.

Sources reported that the landslide occurred in the Duruduma ghat area of Gardama Panchayat, where the saturated soil gave way following overnight showers. Following the rain, a portion of the ghat road gave way, leading to long traffic lines and blocked access for rescue personnel.
