Bhubaneswar, Aug. 6 -- Continuous heavy downpours overnight have severely disrupted normal life across Bhubaneswar, leaving several low-lying localities submerged and streets covered in knee-deep water.

The capital recorded up to 107 mm of rainfall within a 12-hour period, with areas such as Madhusudan Nagar, Nayapalli, and Saheed Nagar bearing the brunt of the deluge.

The relentless rain has forced stormwater into residential properties, inundating neighbourhoods like Shantipalli Basti and stranding locals inside their homes.
