Bhubaneswar, May 13 -- The Mining Department in Puri has seized an alleged illegal sand stockpile reportedly linked to Happy, the main accused in the Kanas youth assault and motorcycle run-over case.

The action was carried out on Wednesday at Chandapada village in Kanas, where officials launched an investigation into the origin and ownership of the sand stockpile.

According to sources, nearly 50 truckloads of sand had been stored at the site. Officials are now examining several aspects related to the stockpile, including ownership of the land, the source of the sand, and the purpose for which it was stored.

The investigation is being conducted jointly by Kanas Police, the Additional Tehsildar and officials from the Mining Department. ...
