Bhubaneswar, Sept. 1 -- Illegal blasting in a mining area in Boudh district came to light after the local administration officials and police conducted a joint raid in the Kharabhui jungle under Harabhanga tehsil on Tuesday.

The raid was carried out after officials received information about blasting and illegal mining activities in the area. The operation brought the activity to a halt, while the people allegedly involved in the blasting fled after noticing the officials.

Officials from the Mining Department, tehsil administration and police took part in the raid. Several items allegedly used for blasting were recovered from the spot, including wires and other materials.
