Bhubaneswar, Sept. 9 -- A joint team of the Excise Department and police seized 19,000 litres of jaggery-mixed fermented liquor wash and 1,100 litres of distilled country liquor during a raid in Odisha's Ganjam on Wednesday. The illegal liquor was allegedly being prepared in a maize field near Dampur village under T. Gobindpur panchayat in Sanakhemundi block.

According to reports, the raid was carried out in the presence of the Sanakhemundi Additional Tahasildar-cum-Executive Magistrate. A large quantity of equipment allegedly used for preparing country liquor was also seized during the operation.

Upon receiving the information, the joint team conducted the raid after detecting liquor preparation activities in the area.
