Bhubaneswar, Aug. 4 -- The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a major enforcement drive against unauthorised constructions and the illegal commercial use of residential properties across the city, warning of strict action against violators.

The move follows a notification issued by the Housing and Urban Development Department on September 4, 2025, and directions of the Supreme Court, which recently instructed municipal bodies nationwide to act against illegal buildings and deviations from approved plans. The court has directed authorities to take measures such as sealing, demolition and other legal action wherever required.
