Bhubaneswar, July 6 -- Police on Monday arrested an illegal arms dealer in Rourkela who was allegedly involved in supplying country-made firearms brought in from outside the state. The accused had been selling illegal weapons in different parts of the city.

According to police sources, the accused was under surveillance by the Bondamunda Police Station for the past few days following inputs about his suspected involvement in arms trafficking. Acting on the information, police apprehended him and recovered two country-made pistols from his possession.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused was sourcing illegal firearms from outside Odisha and distributing them in and around Rourkela. Police are now probing his wider network ...
