Bhubaneswar, June 16 -- "There are multiple mistakes in the book. Our teachers made multiple corrections, we are facing a lot of troubles. I wish to become a police officer but how can I become one with so many errors in the textbooks? The govt should make the corrections soon," said Sai Krishna Nayak, a Class 1 student from Odisha.

The Odisha School and Mass Education Department is currently facing intense scrutiny after nearly 1,700 factual and typographical inaccuracies were identified in new textbooks prescribed for students from Class I to Class VIII.
