Heavy rain batters Odisha: Red alert issued for five districts
Bhubaneswar, July 4 -- Heavy rainfall continued to lash Odisha, with several parts of the state recording intense precipitation over the past 24 hours.
According to official data, Sohela in Bargarh district recorded the highest rainfall of 202 mm during the period. Other major rainfall figures include 145.4 mm in Ganjam, 145 mm in Barpali (Bargarh), 134 mm in Chhatrapur, 126 mm in Bijepur, 122 mm in Bolangir, 115.6 mm in Purushottampur, 110.2 mm in Mahendragiri, 106.9 mm in Gopalpur and 1.0 mm in Aul.
Meanwhile, the low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a well-marked low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining regions.
