Headmistress suspended after over 60 students fall ill due to 'food contamination' in Odisha's Mayurbhanj
Bhubaneswar, Aug. 4 -- The District Education Officer (DEO) has suspended the headmistress of Kasturba Gandhi High School at Sargada in Rairangpur block of Odisha's Mayurbhanj district, following a suspected food contamination incident in which more than 60 girl students fell ill.
According to reports, the incident occurred on July 23 when nearly 100 students reportedly complained of health issues after consuming food served at the school's hostel. Of them, 19 students developed severe symptoms, including diarrhoea and vomiting, and were shifted to the Rairangpur Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment. Their condition was stated to be serious at the time of admission, prompting immediate medical intervention.
