Bhubaneswar, Aug. 29 -- Qualifying NEET-UG and earning a place at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack marked a major milestone towards the dream of becoming a doctor for 19-year-old Somya Ranjan Sahoo from Odisha's Kendrapara. But his achievement got overshadowed by financial hardship as the cost of admission posed a serious challenge to his medical aspirations.
According to a report by The New Indian Express, Somya hails from Sahabajpur village under Bijayanagar gram panchayat in Mahakalapada block. He is the son of a landless daily wage worker and scored 574 marks in NEET-UG, securing an All-India Rank of 21,051.
